FAQ
What brands do you carry?
We offer garments across a range of brands and eras. From the designer side, we carry well-known brands like Dolce and Gabbana, Moschino, Vivienne Westwood, Donna Karan, Valentino, Prada, and Dior. We also feature items from bygone designers, including Galanos, Mary McFadden, Hanae Mori, Richilene, and Victor Costa. Of course, there are amazing clothes that don’t have a designer label, so we also feature a handful of those that are in good condition.
Do you offer shipping?
Yes! Depending on your location, shipping is typically $15-$30.
Do you accept returns and exchanges?
Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer returns on things that don’t fit. In the event something was purchased and misrepresented, please contact us.
How do you find the garments?
The annoying but true answer is everywhere! Part of our inventory comes from individuals looking to unload their closets (or their grandma’s closets)...so please be in touch if you have something you think we might like!
How are your items priced, and how do you determine price?
Our garments range from $150-$1500+, which depends mostly on brand, material, and condition. Anything with a designer label will have a higher market and resale value generally, whereas something without a designer label typically won’t hold it’s value quite as much. Additionally, if a garment with a brand label was a runway piece, or is documented in another way (used in an ad, owned by a celebrity, etc.), it is likely on the higher end of our price range.
If something is made from silk, linen, wool, satin, or another high-quality natural fiber, it will likely be priced higher than a polyester or other synthetic garment.
Finally, if something has notable flaws, that will lead to a price discount and will always be noted in the item description.
Is everything in perfect condition?
Sometimes, garments look like they haven’t aged a day despite being 20+ years old. Usually, garments will have minor flaws - typically marks or spots less than 0.25” - and this is a very normal and expected part of wearing vintage. If anything has significant damage or flaws (missing labels, holes, marks >0.25”), those will be noted in the item description.
How do I know if something will fit me?
We do our best to offer both modern “size guidance” and actual garment measurements. Vintage sizing varies widely and differs from modern sizing, so something may be marked a size 8 but fit like a modern 4. But, at the end of the day, taking your measurements is the best way to determine if something will fit you. All our measurements are taken around the body - so measure around your bust (across your boobs), around the smallest part of your waist, and around the widest part of your hips. If the measurements for the item you are eyeing are equal to or greater than your own measurements, it will fit (tailoring is simple on most garments.)
Do you do custom sourcing?
We are happy to take requests if you are looking for a specific style or type of piece. Given the nature of vintage, we don’t guarantee we can find what you’re looking for in the size, condition, and price range desired, but we are always happy to try to find you something if it’s not in our current inventory. Drop us a note at partyvintagesalon@gmail.com and we will get back to you within 48 hours!
